Most AI tools work by taking a few inputs (age, relationship, medical bills, lost income) and generating a “range.” That can feel useful, but it often misses the parts that drive outcomes in California:
- Liability is fact-driven. In Port Hueneme, fault can hinge on things like lane positioning, visibility, traffic control, speed, distraction, and whether a roadway condition was known.
- Causation can be contested. Even when an accident is tragic, the defense may argue the death was caused by an unrelated medical issue or that the fatal injury wasn’t caused by the defendant’s conduct.
- Damages are limited by what can be proven. Receipts, wage records, medical documentation, and credible timelines are critical—an AI estimate can’t verify them.
- California settlement dynamics differ. Insurance carriers often evaluate risk based on how a case would play with California juries and the strength of the evidence you can present.
So while an AI tool can help you understand what categories might matter, it shouldn’t be treated like a forecast.
