Many AI tools work like this: you enter a few details about the incident and the deceased, and the tool produces a “range.” The problem is that wrongful death settlements are highly sensitive to what can be proven.
In local fatal accident situations, the biggest drivers of value usually aren’t the same items calculators assume. For example:
- Fault can be disputed in traffic cases (speed, lane position, distraction, impairment, failure to yield, braking distance, or visibility).
- Causation may be contested—especially where there are pre-existing conditions, delayed complications, or multiple contributing events.
- Insurance coverage varies depending on the at-fault party and policy terms.
An AI tool cannot review the police report details, dashcam or traffic camera footage, witness statements, or medical records that often determine what a jury could find.
