Most online tools use the same basic inputs: injury type, body part, treatment timeline, time missed from work, and sometimes wage information. The tool then generates a range based on patterns it has seen in other cases.
That can be useful if your goal is to prepare for questions you’ll hear from the insurer. However, an estimate usually can’t access the evidence that actually drives settlement value in Ohio—such as:
- how your treating provider documented work restrictions
- whether the medical record supports causation (that the condition is linked to the workplace event)
- how long it took to reach maximum medical improvement
- what the insurer considers gaps, inconsistencies, or delays
In other words: an online calculator may give you a starting point, but it can’t evaluate your file the way an attorney can.
