Most online calculators work by taking the information you type in—injury type, treatment dates, missed work, and sometimes job title—and then generating a range based on patterns from other cases.
That can be useful if you’re trying to understand what categories of facts commonly affect value. But the limitation is significant for New York claims: these tools typically can’t review the documents that drive settlement decisions, such as:
- the treating provider’s functional findings (what you can and can’t do)
- wage records used to calculate benefit exposure
- whether the claim is accepted, delayed, or disputed
- how New York procedural steps play out in your specific file
In other words, the calculator may “guess,” while settlement negotiation is usually file-driven.
