Online tools may output a “range” after you enter a few basics: injury type, body part, date of injury, lost time, and treatment history. That can feel reassuring when you want clarity quickly.
But Illinois workers’ compensation outcomes are driven by what the file can prove, not by averages. In practice, the biggest gaps in AI estimates usually come from:
- Missing or unclear work restrictions from treating providers
- Wage history that isn’t fully documented (common with overtime, shift differentials, or variable schedules)
- Unresolved disputes (for example, whether the work incident caused the condition)
- The procedural posture of the claim—whether benefits are moving smoothly or being contested
A calculator can’t review your records like an attorney can, and it can’t anticipate how an insurer is likely to argue based on the evidence.
