Many people approach a settlement like it’s a math problem. In reality, insurers decide value based on what they believe about:
- Causation (whether the work incident caused the condition)
- Maximum medical improvement timing (when doctors consider recovery to have stabilized)
- Functional limits (what you can and can’t do day-to-day and at work)
- Wage loss (what you actually earned and what you missed)
An online tool can’t review the medical record in context, evaluate internal inconsistencies, or predict how the insurer will weigh your treating provider’s restrictions versus their own evaluations.
That’s why a “calculator result” is best treated as a starting point—not a forecast.
