Most AI tools work like a “pattern matcher.” You enter details (injury date, body part, treatment, missed work), and the tool returns a likely range based on generalized relationships.
The problem is that California settlement leverage depends on documents the tool can’t review, such as:
- The medical timeline (what was documented first, and how restrictions evolved)
- Work status evidence (doctor-issued restrictions, follow-ups, and whether they were communicated consistently)
- Whether the insurer disputes key issues (causation, reporting, maximum medical improvement)
- How wage loss is supported (pay records and how restrictions actually limited your job duties)
In other words: an AI output may give you a starting point, but it can’t confirm whether your file supports the assumptions that drive settlement value.
