AI calculators work by comparing your inputs to patterns from other cases. That’s why they often produce a “range” that sounds reassuring.
In Patterson, however, the inputs that matter most are frequently the ones an online calculator can’t accurately capture, such as:
- How quickly the injury was documented after a shift (delay can create pressure to “explain” symptoms later)
- Whether your treating provider’s restrictions match what you actually need to do at work (and whether the restrictions are consistent over time)
- Whether wage loss is supported by the right records for your specific pay structure
- Whether the insurer disputes causation (especially when symptoms overlap with preexisting issues)
When those elements aren’t present in the record—or aren’t clearly communicated—they can move settlement value dramatically.
