AI tools often assume that every case follows a similar timeline. In practice, California claims—especially those involving workplace incidents near fast-moving commutes, seasonal work cycles, or physically varied job duties—can diverge quickly.
Common reasons AI ranges look reasonable but fall short:
- Your medical record is unique. Two people can have the same diagnosis, but different findings on exam, imaging reports, or work-restriction documentation can change settlement posture.
- California workers’ comp disputes aren’t just “injury vs. no injury.” Insurers frequently challenge work connection, symptom consistency, and the seriousness of functional limits.
- Timing can affect leverage. If treatment notes don’t reflect early restrictions (or if restrictions change without updated documentation), an insurer may argue your limitations weren’t as severe—or not as long-lasting.
An AI estimate can’t see the evidence your adjuster will rely on. It also can’t anticipate how the insurer will frame the file if there’s any disagreement.
