Many uninsured motorist claims stall for reasons that feel personal—but they’re usually procedural:
- Insurers delay until treatment “catches up.” If you’re still receiving care, they may argue your injuries aren’t proven enough yet.
- Fault gets re-litigated even when UM coverage is involved. In practice, insurers often try to minimize the crash cause to reduce what they pay.
- Documentation is requested repeatedly. Adjusters may ask for the same medical and statement materials in different forms, creating weeks of back-and-forth.
- Local evidence disappears quickly. In a fast-moving city environment, dashcam loops, nearby business video, and witness availability can fade.
A local UM strategy should anticipate those patterns from the start—before you give recorded statements, sign releases, or accept “quick settlement” pressure.
