Many UM claims start straightforward—until the insurer focuses on issues that are common locally, such as:
- Tourist and ride-share involvement: A crash involving visitors or temporary drivers can lead to delays in verifying insurance status.
- Intersection and turning-lane disputes: Busy corridors and frequent left turns often create disagreements about right-of-way.
- Parking-lot and beach-access collisions: Low-speed impacts can still cause significant injuries, but UM adjusters may minimize them as “minor.”
- Pedestrian and cyclist injuries near attractions: When someone is injured outside a typical lane configuration, fault and causation can be heavily contested.
In these situations, the UM claim is only part of the picture—the insurer still tries to limit what it pays by challenging how the crash happened and what injuries are truly connected.
