After an Uber or Lyft incident, the first two days often determine how smoothly your claim develops. Use this checklist as soon as you’re able:
- Get medical care and follow-up: In Ohio, documentation timing can affect how insurers view whether injuries are connected to the crash.
- Write down your “trip story” while it’s fresh: where you were going, what lane/intersection you were near, what happened right before impact, and what you remember about braking/turning.
- Request the accident report number (if police responded) and save any incident paperwork.
- Capture photos or video if it’s safe: roadway conditions, vehicle positions, traffic signals, crosswalks, skid marks, and visible damage.
- Save rideshare details: trip timing, pickup/drop-off location, and any in-app information you can access.
- Be careful with adjuster calls: avoid long explanations. Stick to basic facts until a lawyer reviews your situation.
If you used a guided intake tool or “AI” questionnaire to organize details, that can help you remember—but it shouldn’t replace attorney review before you give statements to insurance.
