In the hours after an Uber or Lyft crash, the best “case-building” actions are usually the least glamorous.
Do these things if you can:
- Get medical care the same day (or as soon as possible). Even if symptoms seem minor, delayed pain is common.
- Request/confirm a crash report if police respond. For Garner residents, the report number and officer notes can matter later when insurers dispute details.
- Capture scene evidence before it disappears: roadway markings, traffic signals, lane positions, and vehicle damage.
- Write down your timeline while it’s fresh—what you were doing right before the impact (waiting at a curb, stepping into a crosswalk, exiting a vehicle, etc.).
- Keep all rideshare trip details you have access to (pickup/drop-off location, time, and driver info).
Avoid common missteps:
- Don’t rush into recorded statements or “quick settlement” calls.
- Don’t assume “the app” automatically figures out fault—insurance still drives the outcome.
- Don’t post about the crash in ways that contradict your later medical records.
