After a crash, the most valuable “work” is done early—before details fade and before insurers lock you into a version of events.
Focus on these priorities first:
- Get medical care in time (even if injuries seem minor). In Florida, gaps in treatment can become an argument against causation.
- Document the scene while it’s still fresh: photos of vehicle positions, visible damage, street lighting conditions, and traffic signals/signage.
- Write down your timeline: where you were picked up or dropped off, whether you were inside the car, and what you remember about speed, braking, and lane changes.
- Collect rideshare trip details if you’re able (date/time, pickup/drop-off location, and any trip confirmation info).
If you’re tempted to speak at length with an adjuster, pause. Early statements can be used to suggest shared fault or to minimize injury severity.
