In a typical personal injury case, it’s already tough to sort out fault and damages. In an Uber/Lyft accident, the complication is usually one (or more) of these factors:
- Trip status questions (was the driver on an active request or in transit?)
- Multiple insurance layers (rideshare company coverage vs. driver’s policy vs. other driver’s coverage)
- Conflicting accounts from people who don’t see the same moments the same way—especially when the crash happens during commuting or turn-heavy driving
Even when liability seems obvious at first, insurers may push back by arguing the driver acted reasonably, that the trip wasn’t covered, or that your injuries don’t match the timeline.
