Most calculator-style tools estimate value by using inputs such as injury severity, treatment duration, and general categories of damages. That can be helpful if you’re trying to understand the types of losses that might apply.
But in truck cases, the number you see online often misses the biggest drivers of value:
- Liability complexity (a driver’s error may overlap with company policies, maintenance, or loading practices)
- Evidence strength (dashcam/video availability, witness accounts, scene documentation)
- Texas causation issues (insurers often argue the injury wasn’t caused by the crash or that treatment was unrelated)
- Timing of treatment (delays can be used to challenge how serious the injury was)
In other words, a calculator may produce a range, but it doesn’t replace an attorney’s job: matching your medical record to the legal elements that control settlement value.
