Many online tools estimate damages by asking for injury severity, treatment duration, and general loss categories. That can be useful as a starting point—but it can’t reliably account for the things that tend to drive outcomes in Illinois trucking cases, such as:
- Whether the crash report and scene evidence support fault (and who else may share responsibility)
- How quickly you got medical care after the collision and whether documentation is consistent
- Insurance defenses used in Illinois (including attempts to reduce causation or argue pre-existing issues)
- The credibility gap between “what you told an adjuster” and “what your records show”
In other words, the number the calculator produces may be directionally helpful—but it isn’t the same as a claim value grounded in Bellwood-specific evidence and Illinois legal requirements.
