Most AI-style calculators take inputs like injury severity, treatment duration, and categories of damages. They may output a rough range that sounds reassuring.
But calculators generally cannot:
- Confirm whether the truck driver’s actions were negligent under the specific facts in your crash
- Evaluate trucking-company defenses (including log/route compliance arguments)
- Identify missing evidence (maintenance history, cargo records, dashcam/video, witness availability)
- Account for how quickly you got care and whether records clearly connect treatment to the collision
In Caldwell, that last point matters. If there’s a gap between the crash and documented treatment—or if you were treated but the records don’t clearly link symptoms to the crash—insurers may argue the settlement should be reduced.
