AI may show up in records in different ways: generated summaries, software-assisted imaging, decision-support prompts, or documentation tools that auto-fill sections of the chart. The presence of AI does not automatically mean wrongdoing.
But when AI-assisted elements are involved, the key question becomes whether the clinical team properly verified outputs and acted reasonably under Utah standards of care.
Our team looks for specifics such as:
- where AI was referenced in the operative or perioperative timeline
- what information the system relied on (inputs, images, prior history)
- whether the staff confirmed results before acting
- whether documentation reflects what actually occurred
