Warrenville is largely suburban, but that doesn’t mean premises hazards are rare. Many buildings here have layouts and conditions that can increase fall risk:
- Multi-unit stairwells and shared entrances where maintenance schedules and inspections may be stretched
- Seasonal weather and tracked-in debris around entry steps (salt residue, grit, leaves)
- Lighting that’s adequate “most of the time,” but fails when bulbs burn out or stairwell sensors malfunction
- Construction and property turnover in growing areas, where older stairs may be patched rather than properly repaired
When a fall happens on stairs—especially near entries people use daily—there’s often a duty to keep the area reasonably safe. The hard part is proving what was wrong, how long it existed, and what the property owner or manager knew.
