In our experience, many staircase injury claims in the area start with preventable maintenance and safety issues, such as:
- Poor lighting in stairwells, entrances, and parking-to-building walkways
- Worn or uneven treads (including damage from heavy foot traffic)
- Handrails that are loose, missing, or not maintained
- Weather-related hazards near exterior stairs (rain, salt air corrosion, tracking debris)
- Cluttered landings during deliveries, move-ins/move-outs, or event weekends
Sometimes the hazard is obvious right after the fall. Other times it’s subtle—like inconsistent step height or a railing that feels stable until you’re off-balance. The key is documenting the condition before it gets “cleaned up” or repaired.
