Local staircase injuries commonly involve conditions that property owners and managers are expected to address—but sometimes don’t:
- Seasonal weather tracking and moisture that makes treads slick, especially near entry stairways
- Clutter and temporary obstructions in shared hallways or building entrances after deliveries or events
- Worn or mismatched tread surfaces in older homes and some multi-unit properties
- Poor visibility—hallway lighting, porch lights, or dim stairwells that reduce safe footing
- Handrail problems (loose, missing, or installed inconsistently)
Even when a fall feels “minor” at first, the injury may not declare itself until you’ve had imaging, follow-up visits, or physical therapy.
