AI tools typically generate an estimate based on simplified inputs such as injury severity, age, and broad categories of damages. That can be useful for getting a rough sense of what claims often include.
But spinal cord injuries are uniquely fact-driven. Two people with the same general diagnosis can have very different outcomes depending on:
- Neurological function tests and how they’re documented in the record
- The presence of complications that can affect long-term care needs
- Functional limitations that matter for daily living, mobility, and work
- Consistency between the incident story, imaging, and medical findings
In New York, insurers are not required to “match” an AI output. They evaluate what they can defend against—especially when liability is disputed or when causation is questioned.
