The first hours after a crash can affect what evidence is available later. If you’re able, take these steps before you talk to insurers:
- Seek medical care right away (urgent care, ER, or follow-up as recommended). In Texas, prompt documentation helps connect your injuries to the incident.
- Request the crash report number if police respond.
- Capture ride details: screenshot the app confirmation, trip timing, driver name/vehicle details, and your pickup/drop-off points.
- Photograph the scene where it’s safe—traffic signals, lane position, damage, and any hazards (construction zones and changing traffic patterns are common in the area).
- Write down what you remember while it’s fresh: how the vehicle was moving, where you were sitting, and what hurt immediately vs. later.
Then, avoid giving a rushed recorded statement. Adjusters may ask questions that sound harmless but can be used to limit coverage or dispute the seriousness of injuries.
