Right after a rideshare collision, your choices can affect how your claim is evaluated later. Instead of trying to “figure it out” alone, use this short checklist:
- Get medical care immediately (even if you think the injury is minor). In New Jersey, documentation of symptoms and treatment timing matters.
- Request the crash report and take photos if it’s safe: vehicle position, traffic signals, road conditions, and any visible injuries.
- Preserve ride proof: screenshots of the trip, driver name/photo, pickup/drop-off, and times.
- Be careful with statements. Adjusters may use your words to narrow liability or question causation.
- Follow up with treatment exactly as recommended. Inconsistent care can become a dispute point.
If you’re already getting calls from insurance or the rideshare platform, it’s often best to have a lawyer review what’s being asked before you respond.
