Right after a crash, your priorities are safety and medical care—but your next actions can heavily influence how your claim is evaluated. In our experience with Minnesota cases (including those involving rideshare trips on busy commute routes), these steps matter:
- Get medical documentation early. Even if you feel “okay,” follow up if pain, stiffness, headaches, or mobility issues develop later.
- Preserve ride proof. Save screenshots of the trip confirmation, driver name/photo, pickup/drop-off, and any in-app messages.
- Write down the timeline while you remember it. Include the approximate time of day, direction of travel, and what the vehicle was doing right before the impact (braking, merging, stopping at a light, turning into traffic, etc.).
- Request the crash report when available. A consistent record helps align the story of what happened with the injuries documented afterward.
If you already gave a statement to an adjuster, don’t panic—just don’t assume it can’t be adjusted or explained. What matters is that your claim is supported with medical records and a coherent timeline.
