Before you worry about keywords, settlements, or “AI lawyer” tools, focus on protecting your health and building a record. The earliest steps often determine whether your claim is strong later.
If you can, do these right away:
- Check for injuries and get medical care even if you “feel okay” at first. California insurance disputes often turn on whether symptoms are documented.
- Report the crash (and request a copy of any report number if one is created). For incidents near major corridors, official reports can be especially important.
- Capture photos and key details: vehicle positions, visible damage, traffic control devices, street signs, lane markings, and any hazards (including construction barriers).
- Preserve the ride info: trip confirmation, driver photo/name, timestamps, pickup/drop-off, and any in-app messages.
Avoid the trap: speaking casually to an adjuster before your symptoms and treatment plan are clear. In California, early statements can be used to minimize causation or argue that injuries aren’t tied to the incident.
