After a pedestrian crash, the decisions you make right away can strongly affect what gets accepted later. If you’re physically able, prioritize:
- Get medical care promptly. Oklahoma City injuries can worsen after the initial shock—especially head injuries, back/neck pain, and soft-tissue trauma.
- Document the scene while it’s fresh. Take photos of the crosswalk, traffic signals, lighting, roadway markings, and your injuries. If there’s nearby event traffic (downtown corridors) or construction congestion, capture that too.
- Write down what you remember. Include the direction you were traveling, where you first saw the vehicle, and whether traffic was moving normally or backed up.
- Preserve witness information. In high-activity areas of Oklahoma City—popular dining districts, transit-adjacent routes, and event venues—people may move on quickly. Get names and contact info before they leave.
If an adjuster calls, avoid giving a recorded statement immediately. Early statements can be used to minimize fault or challenge the seriousness of your injuries.
