Boone sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge, and that geography shows up in accident patterns. Pedestrians may be harder to see on roads with:
- Steep grades and curves that reduce stopping distance
- Reduced visibility at dawn/dusk, especially in shoulder seasons
- Construction zones and detours that change traffic flow and crosswalk visibility
- Event and tourism surges when streets that are normally quieter become busier
Even if a driver “didn’t see you,” the legal question is whether the driver should have been able to—given the time of day, road conditions, and the presence of pedestrians in that area.
