After a pedestrian accident, your next actions can affect evidence, medical documentation, and how insurers evaluate credibility.
1) Get medical care—even if symptoms seem minor. Concussions, soft-tissue injuries, and back/neck problems can show up or worsen later.
2) Document the scene while it’s still fresh. If you’re able, take photos of:
- where you entered the roadway or crosswalk
- vehicle damage and the direction of travel
- lighting conditions (especially at dusk)
- weather/road surface (rain, snow, glare)
3) Write down details quickly. Include the time of day, what you were doing, what you remember about the driver’s actions, and any witnesses.
4) Be careful with insurance statements. Early comments can be used to argue you were partially responsible or that injuries are unrelated.
