In the days after a catastrophic injury, it’s common to focus on survival, treatment, and getting through the next appointment. But insurers and defense teams frequently look for reasons to minimize causation or delay coverage. In Ontario, that can show up as disputes about:
- How the accident happened (especially when multiple vehicles, lane changes, or roadway conditions are involved)
- Whether the injury was caused by the incident versus a pre-existing or unrelated condition
- Whether the medical timeline is consistent with the reported mechanism of injury
That’s why we encourage clients to think in terms of evidence you’ll need later, not just paperwork you need today.
