In many Florida communities—including the Temple Terrace area—nursing home residents may spend more time in common areas and transition spaces: hallways, assisted-transfer zones, dining areas, and activity rooms. Falls can be especially disputed when the incident occurs during shift changes, after medication adjustments, or when staff coverage is stretched.
That means the legal questions frequently come down to details families can miss at first:
- Lighting and flooring conditions in hallways, bathrooms, and entryways
- Whether alarms, call buttons, or monitoring plans were actually being used
- How staff handled transfer assistance (wheelchair-to-bed, walker use, bathroom support)
- Whether documentation matches what witnesses and video logs later show
When the facility says, “It was an accident,” we look closely at whether preventable risk controls were in place and followed.
