After a fall, the facility may move quickly to explain what happened—sometimes before families have the incident details, the medical record trail, or the full timeline.
We focus on the questions that matter in the days following a nursing home fall:
- What was the resident’s fall risk before the incident? (and was it updated?)
- Were staff positioned and trained to respond to that risk?
- What was the environment like at the time? (lighting, bathroom setup, flooring, walkways)
- How quickly did the facility evaluate and treat the injury?
- Were fall-prevention steps actually used as documented?
If the answers don’t line up, that’s often where liability questions begin.
