Many nursing home falls aren’t disputed because the resident fell—they’re disputed because the facility may claim the fall was unavoidable or that precautions were adequate. In Dothan-area cases, we frequently see the most important questions revolve around:
- Whether fall risk was reassessed after changes in mobility, medication, or behavior
- Whether alarms and supervision levels matched the resident’s documented risk
- Whether staff responded quickly and appropriately when an alarm sounded or when a resident was found on the floor
- Whether the environment was safe—including bathroom layouts, lighting, clutter, and flooring conditions
Even when a facility insists “everything was done right,” the paper trail can tell a different story—incident reporting, care plan updates, staffing documentation, and nursing notes.
