In our area, many claims involve locations where people pass through quickly or where visibility is limited—parking lots, side entrances, poorly lit walkways, and entrances near busier roadways or commercial corridors. Even when a business has “security” on paper, problems often show up in the details:
- Cameras that don’t cover the approach routes people actually use
- Doors or gates that don’t close/lock consistently
- Lighting that works seasonally (or fails during evening hours)
- Staffing or response gaps during peak arrival times
- Maintenance shortcuts that leave access points vulnerable
Those are the kinds of circumstances we analyze—because negligent security is typically about whether the security setup matched the risk the property should have anticipated.
