AI-based calculators typically work by taking the details you enter—such as the type of injury, treatment timeline, and severity—and generating an educational range. For many people, that first range provides emotional relief: it helps them stop guessing and start asking better questions.
In practice, however, AI tools can’t see the evidence that decides real cases. In Oregon, a successful claim generally turns on proof of:
- Deviation from the standard of care (what a reasonably careful provider would have done in similar circumstances)
- Medical causation (that the deviation caused your injuries)
- Damages (economic losses and non-economic harm)
An AI model may not correctly account for missing records, unclear documentation, or complex medical causation issues—common problems in cases involving delayed treatment, evolving symptoms, or complications that unfold over time.
