If you can, do these things before you spend time on calls and statements:
- Get to safety and seek medical attention. Texas allows emergency care even if you’re unsure how serious your injuries are. Delaying treatment can make it harder to connect symptoms to the crash.
- Report the crash and request a case number. A police report is often the backbone of early liability and evidence tracking.
- Capture “scene proof” immediately:
- photos of vehicle damage, debris, skid marks, and road conditions
- traffic signals or turn lanes involved
- any visible injuries
- the direction the vehicle fled
- Identify nearby cameras while they still save footage. In Conroe, footage is often available from businesses, gas stations, and nearby residences—but retention windows can be short.
- Write down details while they’re fresh: vehicle type, color, approximate speed, and any partial plate information.
Even if you feel overwhelmed, this early documentation can become the difference between “we can’t verify it” and “we can prove what happened.”
