When a driver flees, your instinct might be to chase answers. In Pennsylvania, the smartest move is to shift into evidence mode immediately, while also making sure you’re safe and medically treated.
- Get to safety and call 911 if you’re injured or the scene is still active.
- Ask for the police response and make sure an incident report is created.
- Capture what you can before it’s gone: vehicle position in the roadway, damage on your car, debris, lane position, lighting conditions, and any identifying marks you noticed.
- Write down names and contact info of anyone who saw what happened—especially people near Emmaus-area retail centers, nearby parking lots, or roadways used by commuters.
- If you’re able, request nearby camera footage right away (businesses and homes may retain footage briefly).
Even if you’re shaken, those steps help your lawyer build a story of liability that insurance companies can’t dismiss as “unclear.”
