In a suburban area with frequent traffic flow, stop-and-go commuting, and lots of commercial cameras, many hit-and-run cases are won or lost on timing:
- Dashcam and traffic-camera footage can be retained only briefly.
- Businesses and apartment complexes often overwrite storage on a schedule.
- Witnesses may provide details once—but then become hard to reach later.
If you wait, you may lose the most direct proof—especially when the driver is gone and liability must be supported by secondary evidence.
What to do next (immediately): if you’re able, note the nearest intersection, road name, business or complex entrance, and any visible camera locations (storefronts, parking-lot light poles, building corners). This lets us move quickly once you contact counsel.
