Beloit’s mix of downtown activity, commuter traffic, and regional visitors means accidents can be witnessed, but not always recorded. After an elevator or escalator incident, surveillance footage may be overwritten and building staff may rotate shifts. Maintenance records can also be difficult to obtain unless requested promptly.
That’s why the first priority is preserving what’s time-sensitive:
- Your incident report number (if one was generated)
- The exact location (which entrance, which floor, which unit)
- Names of witnesses and staff who were present
- Photos of the area (signage, lighting, warnings, any visible defects)
- Any information you received about the device “being checked”
