In the first hours and days after your accident, your actions can affect what evidence is available and how well your injury is documented.
Do this if you’re able:
- Get medical care promptly (even if you think it’s minor). Falls and abrupt movements can cause injuries that show up later.
- Report the incident to building management or security and ask for a copy or incident number.
- Write down the details while they’re fresh: where you were, what the device did right before the fall, whether there were warning signs, lighting issues, or crowded conditions.
- Preserve key information: photos of the area, your clothing/footwear condition if relevant, and any witness contact details.
Be careful with timing: some property records (like camera footage) can be overwritten, and maintenance logs may be harder to obtain later. Starting early matters.
