Early actions can affect whether maintenance records, incident logs, and surveillance footage still exist.
Do this first:
- Get medical care promptly (even if you think the injury is minor). Back, neck, and soft-tissue injuries can worsen over time.
- Report the incident in writing if possible. Ask for an incident or report number.
- Document what you can remember: time of day, device location (lobby, parking level, common area), how the device behaved, and what you were doing when it happened.
- Save receipts and records: co-pays, prescriptions, follow-up appointments, and any transportation costs.
If you can, also ask for the basics about the device: when it was last inspected, whether any warnings were posted, and whether staff witnessed the event.
