While every incident is different, Alabaster cases frequently involve one of these real-world patterns:
- Maintenance gaps at multi-tenant properties (repairs delayed, inspections not completed on schedule, or unclear responsibility between building management and contractors)
- Escalator issues in high-traffic retail and office areas, where repeated use can worsen worn components
- Door and gate malfunctions in facilities where people are entering quickly (parking-lot commutes, medical appointments, school drop-offs)
- Inconsistent warnings or lighting around the device—especially in areas where people move quickly between cars and entrances
In many cases, the defense tries to narrow the story to “it was just an accident.” Our job is to show why a safer condition was expected—and why the responsible party’s maintenance, inspection, or response fell short.
