Online tools can be useful for a rough range. They typically respond to inputs like injury type, treatment timeline, and whether you have visible scarring.
However, a calculator can mislead when:
- Your injury severity isn’t fully reflected in the first medical visit (common when swelling or pain develops later)
- The insurance company disputes causation (arguing the dog bite didn’t cause the full extent of your symptoms)
- There are conflicting accounts about what happened right before the bite (including whether the dog was startled or provoked)
- Your claim involves emotional impact that doesn’t show up in a simple wound description
In other words, a calculator can’t “see” your full file—photos, witness statements, medical narratives, and how the defense frames the facts.
