Most online tools generate a range based on inputs like bite location, medical treatment, and whether there was scarring. That’s useful as a starting point.
But real settlements are shaped by issues calculators can’t fully capture, such as:
- Whether the dog owner had notice of aggressive tendencies (or should have)
- Whether there are photos, videos, or credible witness statements
- How insurers interpret the medical timeline
- Whether the injury affects function long-term (hand, face, mobility)
In New Mexico, you still need evidence that supports both liability and damages. A calculator can’t weigh that evidence for you—but it can help you prepare the information your lawyer will need.
