An AI or online estimator can be useful as a starting point to understand categories of damages—for example, medical expenses, follow-up care, and non-economic impacts like pain and anxiety.
But it can mislead when the case turns on details such as:
- Whether the dog’s owner should have anticipated the risk (prior behavior, complaints, or warnings)
- Whether the injury matches the medical documentation (wound description, diagnosis, treatment timeline)
- Whether the bite was witnessed or supported by photos taken near the incident
- Whether Minnesota’s deadlines are honored (missing deadlines can shrink options)
In other words: think of a calculator as a map, not the destination.
