An online estimate can be useful when you want to understand the types of damages that may be claimed, such as:
- Medical costs (emergency care, follow-up visits, antibiotics, wound care)
- Lost income (missed shifts, reduced hours)
- Ongoing treatment (scar care, therapy, or additional procedures if recommended)
- Pain and suffering (including the emotional impact of a traumatic attack)
However, calculators can’t reliably account for:
- Whether Michigan law recognizes the specific facts of fault in your case
- The strength of witness testimony and documentation
- How insurers interpret injury severity and causation
- Whether liability is disputed (which is common)
In other words: treat a calculator as a planning tool, not a promise.
