After a dog bite, it’s common for insurers to request a quick statement, push for an early resolution, or ask you to justify your losses before your recovery is fully documented.
That’s where an estimate tool can be misleading. A calculator may generate a range based on limited inputs, but adjusters typically evaluate:
- whether treatment records match the story of the incident
- whether the wound required more than first-aid or routine care
- whether there are lasting effects that aren’t obvious right away
- whether evidence supports who was responsible for the dog’s behavior
In other words: the earlier you settle without a documented record, the harder it can be to prove the full value of the claim.
