Online tools can be helpful as a starting point—especially if you’re trying to organize your thoughts about medical bills and recovery. Still, a calculator can’t see the details that often decide outcomes here, such as:
- Whether the incident happened in a residential neighborhood, a friend/family home, or a public-facing location (like a workplace or property where visitors routinely pass)
- Whether there’s local documentation—photos, witness statements, animal control reports, or incident reports—that support your account
- Whether your treatment notes clearly connect the dog bite to your symptoms and any follow-up care
- How quickly you received care and how consistently your care was documented
In other words: the calculator may give you a number, but your evidence determines what a demand should ask for.
