Many calculators use a simplified set of inputs (injury severity, treatment duration, visible scarring, and similar factors). That can create a broad range—but it doesn’t “see” the evidence that Iowa insurers focus on.
In real claims involving Carroll neighborhoods, parks, and residential yards, insurers commonly scrutinize:
- Whether the owner had prior notice of aggressive behavior (or whether there’s evidence they didn’t)
- Whether the bite location matches the story (home, shared yard, sidewalk, driveway, or parking area)
- How consistently your medical record describes the injury and mechanism
- Whether your treatment timeline supports the severity you report
When any of those pieces are unclear, your settlement range can shrink—even if the calculator suggested a higher number.
